Product Description

TRIPLETT WIREMASTER XR-2 LAN CABLE TESTER NEW The WireMaster XR-2 is the perfect test set for verifying the continuity of 2,3, or 4 pair UTP (Unshielded Twisted Pair) cables terminated in RJ-11 or RJ-45 modular connectors (such as LAN cables or telephone cables). In the Remote mode (when only the Receiver is visible to the user), installed "straight through" and "reverse wired" cables can be identified and their continuity verified. In the Local mode (when both the Transmitter and Receiver are visible to the user), jumper, or "patch" cables can be tested, and their point to point wiring verified, regardless of whether they are "straight through", "reverse wired", "crossover wired", or of any wiring configuration. In both test modes, reversed, shorted, transposed, crossed, or open pairs are detected. In the Remote mode, an LED warns the user that the tested cable is mis-wired. The WireMaster XR-2 also generates Tracer Tones that may be used to locate un-energized cables, when used with an inductive tracer such as the Triplett Hound or Hound 2 Probe. The switch on the Transmitter selects testing of cables equipped with either RJ-11 or RJ-45 connectors. The switch on the Receiver selects testing of patch cables (Local test) or installed cables (Remote test). In use, the cable to be tested is connected between the Transmitter and the Receiver. The 8 LEDs on the Transmitter light in a predetermined sequence (right to left or left to right), while the LEDs on the Receiver light in a sequence determined by the wiring of the cable being tested. By examining the sequence in which the Receiver LEDs light, the user can determine the wiring of the cable. The Transmitter can be configured by the user (via internal jumpers) to sequence in Forward or Reverse direction, to sequence at a Fast or Slow pace, to use a High or Low pitched tracer tone, or to test 4 or 6 conductor RJ-11 cables
