General Machine Products 13681 Lifter Manhole Cov W/Spiked Ft New This Ingenious Tool Simplifies The Removal And Replacement Of Typical Telephone Manhole Covers While Decreasing The Strain On The User. The Long Handle Provides Useful Leverage When Removing And Replacing Manhole Covers

Each Tool Is Made Of An All-Steel Handle, Sleeve, Shank, Foot And Heat-Treated Alloy Steel Hook. Cadmium-Plating Is Then Applied To Fight Rust And Rubber Grips Are Placed On Both Handle And Foot To Prevent Slippage.

The Open End Of The Hook Can Be Locked Inside The Handle As An Added Safety Feature When Not Being Used

When Preparing To Remove A Cover Make Sure It'S Not Locked With A Bolt Or Other Locking Device. When Handling A Cover, Keep Feet Solidly Placed And Clear Of The Cover Should It Drop.

To Use, Remove The Hook From The Handle By Rotating The Knurled Sleeve. Insert The Hook Tip Into One Of The Hook Holes In The Cover Making Certain To Insert The Hook Deep Enough To Clear The Rib On The Underside Of The Cover.

Set The Foot Of The Tool On The Ground About 12 In. From The Cover And Place A Foot On The Handle To Hold It In Place.

Taking A Working Position With Knees Slightly Bent And Unseat The Cover By Pulling On The Handle. Re-Position The Foot Of The Tool Away From The Cover And Continue To Make Additional Pulls Until The Cover Is Clear From The Frame And Will Not Interfere With The Work To Be Done. Replacing The Cover Can Be Done In A Similar Manner By Moving It Until The Cover Seats Itself In The Frame.
